A Map of Foye
The tower sailors look for first, and the bells the whole river hears.
St Fenna's tower was raised taller after a great storm, so that it could be seen from the harbour mouth before the town itself. Its bells rang the boats home through the fog, and a lamp was kept in the belfry on the darkest nights.
Inside, the pew ends are carved with ships, fish and a small grinning moon that nobody has ever been able to explain.
Cold stone, brass polish, and a carved moon nobody can explain. The prints I choose come from days spent in places like it.
