A Map of Foye

Penruan

The fishing village across the water, with the best view of Foye.

A map of Foye and its riverAn old-style map of Foye, an invented harbour town. The town climbs the west bank of the river, the village of Penruan faces it across the water, and a ferry crosses between them. Shops along Fore Street: 1, Interiors; 2, Candles & fragrance; 3, Gifts; 4, Clothes & accessories; 5, iconkind. The town: A, Town Quay; B, St Fenna's Church; C, Trevenna Hall; D, The Watchman's Tower; E, Silver Cove; F, The Penruan Ferry; G, Penruan.

Penruan sits on the far bank, a tumble of cottages round a small chapel. It has always been Foye's rival and its best neighbour, and the two have argued for centuries about whose harbour it really is.

Walk up behind the chapel and the whole of Foye is laid out across the river: the quay, the church tower and the lane of shops along the water.

The best view of the town is from the far bank, which the town finds annoying. Most of the prints I keep are of this view.
